A fine morning saw 15 members negotiate the traditionally muddy path from our starting point before reaching ‘open country’. Following field paths, and several stiles later, we arrived at Hallum Barn before turning towards Aston. The sun shone, and layers were shed as we climbed towards our coffee stop overlooking Twitchill Farm. From here we had good views towards Lose Hill and Mam Tor.
We continued along Hope Brink and as we crossed the ridge we met JB and JP walking in the opposite direction (don’t ask!). The Warwicks were also reported to be in the vicinity, and it transpires they were watching us eat our lunch from the summit of Win Hill. The fine weather ensured we all had excellent views across Ladybower towards Derwent Edge, with Crook Hills in the foreground.
When the path reached it’s high point, three of our party could not resist the temptation to visit the summit, whilst the rest followed the contouring path above Thorhill Carrs, before tackling the final sticky descent to our starting point.
A very pleasant 6.5 miles. Thanks to all who came.
Sean.
