ParticipantSUNSHINE!!! With a good number of members away climbing in Greece a sunny day was ordered to entice others out. 12 of us (zero dogs) duly convened at Linacre Reservoir for a walk which the advertised leader (Vanda) had delegated to her new husband🤣🤣.
Setting off downhill, a plus, we meandered alongside the reservoirs, with an informative mini lecture included for free. After branching off through the woods we came through an area clearly ripe for developing a new golf course, various design solutions debated.
After crossing via a mini stone bridge the only significant rise took us to a coffee stop, adjacent to a mini climbing wall, unused.
By now, hardly anybody knew where we were in an unexplored piece of Derbyshire but we were on the designated route and eventually we emerged by Wigly Primary School. More downhill took us to our lunch spot, convenient felled trees providing effective seating whilst hiding from the landowner. Post lunch we visited Brampton Church, an interesting interior and a very unusual clock face which was the subject of a quiz. The answer and explanation was given by John M.
Back via the dam wall to the cars, 6.00 miles as advertised and done by 2pm.
Cheers

ParticipantWell it’s not Norwich City fans, wrong colour, they’re green and yellow. Leeds are blue and yellow on white but too neat for a Leeds fan.

ParticipantRe parking: there is also a small campsite below Hen Cloud. If you camp Saturday night you can leave your car on site Sunday. Also has the bonus of climbing Saturday if you want.
We shan’t be there…on honeymoon!

ParticipantAt a quick look 9 seater for a weekend from £420 plus fuel and limited luggage space, no room for 5 tents etc. Not viable for me plus means everybody has to go to the same places throughout the weekend. As far as I’m concerned, those days are gone..

ParticipantI’ve got Jaycee stopping Friday night before skiing in Manchester Saturday. We may get there pm after Cresswell Crags am.

ParticipantHave you mentioned dogs? You’ll be in trouble if not!! Very enjoyable and sociable day, if a little chilly at times. Thanks for organising it.

ParticipantVanda and I expect to be there on Sun 14.
I expect most people have seen the signs, but be aware that the 14th is Sheffield Marathon day and the many road closures around Ringinglow etc have caused chaos in the past for those heading out to the Peak.
We also hope to be at the Stanage meet in May.
Cheers
