Edale -Sheffield Walk 1 October CANCELLED DUE TO TRAIN STRIKE

Thank you to all those who replied showing interest. Thank you JB for posting re scheduled train strikes. I have checked websites and these will affect the proposed early Saturday train.
As one of the objectives of the walking focus group was to be more sustainable in walking meets, I feel that using cars to ferry people around does not really meet this criteria. Therefore this meet will be offered at another time.
However, I will arrange a walk for that day , with sustainability in mind!! Probably not as long but around
12-15 miles. I will post in a few days.
Remember this is also the date for the CLIMBERS/WALKERS SOCIAL, so a good idea not to be too trashed should you want to go out and be sociable!

CANCELLATION SPIRE TOUR

Unfortunately the cycle ride and tour are cancelled.
St Mary’s have just announced that the Civic Ceremony for the Queen is being held at 2.30pm with the bells sounding from 1 pm. Obviously this clashes with our scheduled tour.
I may rebook for sometime in the Spring. This will have to be a whole new booking with a new list of people as I doubt all of us will be around to go.

Meet Rother Valley Country Park, Mansfield Rd, Sheffield S26 5PQ at 0900-9.15 am. Park at water activity centre front. Payment based on plate recognition. Either pay at activity centre or via card on exit. All day approx £6.50.
Route approx 24 miles, a few inclines but generally flat. Outward journey via TPT and return via Cuckkoo Way and canal path. Bring off road bikes or hybrids as surface not really suitable for slick tyres.
We will ride in 2 groups, one leaving at 9.15 and the other at least 15 mins later.
We should arrive at the church with plenty of time for snacks and drinks. Either bring your own or use Greggs and shops nearby. Coffee served at Alberts next to church also. Lock needed for bike – plenty of convenient railings in churchyard.
Return ride has one cafe called Katy’s by canal where we can stop if needed.

Everywhere busy tomorrow, try and be early for parking and 10am start. Still pay & display £4.75 all day (card or cash).

REMINDER FOR GOYT VALLEY SUNDAY WALK 15 MAY
A circular 10.5 mile (17km) route with panoramic views, an ancient valley shrouded in myth and legend, craggy tors, and the remote Jenkin Chapel. The walk follows the edges and then meanders through the valley. There is one sharp up to keep your heart healthy! It is a figure of 8 so plenty of opportunities to shorten the route if desired. The pace will accommodate everyone.
Meet Pym Chair free car park White Peak GR 995767. Car park is along minor roads 4 miles SW Whaley Bridge. Follow signs for Goyt Valley off B5470. Closest postcode SK10 5XL. Just after a defunct cattle grid, at the top of a steep hill, take the first right to car park.
Car share if possible as again quite a distance to travel (approx 1 hour from West Sheffield).
I’m happy to offer a lift to 2 others. Message me so car share can be coordinated.
Bring usual supplies.
