Nine of us gathered in the large layby at the top end of Deep Dale, and gaiters were donned in anticipation of muddy conditions, with two having already decided on wearing wellies. We headed north on Wheal Lane, before taking the path gradually descending towards Taddington. The usual path from the stile across a field had been blocked by fencing [a misbehaving landowner?] but we easily re-joined the main path, before stopping for coffee on a convenient bench. Then a successful navigation of the very large puddle and muddy path of Hades Lane, before climbing out of Taddinton to Sough Top trig point [another Ethel to be ticked off by some] across fields to Sough Lane with surprisingly clear views south, before the lunch stop in Green Lane. An easy descent took us towards Flagg, with a short diversion on a grassy path off the Limestone Way, before leaving it again at Cross Lane to take us into Monyash. before then heading northwards across fields and yet more stiles back to our cars, just as the drizzle started.
As ever, great company and conversations, and even a couple of tractors and some free-range eggs to keep certain people happy.
