Fri 23-Sun 25 Jan Beetham FRCC Hut, Patterdale.
This is a great location for walking and mountain biking.
For non-members of the FRCC it is £18 per person per night (£14 for kindred club members). For more information, please contact Elen Rees or join the WhatsApp group.
This event is currently full. Please contact Elen if you would like to join a waiting list.
February
Thurs 12-Thurs 19 February. SMC, Reaburn Hut, Newtonmore, Scotland.
This is a great location for Scottish winter walking and possible climbing. Scottish winters can be very rewarding with the views and conditions, but can be very harsh. If you are interested in this event but have never been Scottish winter walking, please get in touch with the event leader Geoff Nichols to ensure that this trip is for you before booking.
April
Mon 2-Wed 11 April – Provence, France.
This is a multi-activity trip. Contact Elen Rees for details.
Fri 3 – Mon 6 April. Tyndrum, Scotland.
For all those Monroe baggers and walkers who enjoy walking in the Sothern Highlands. We are staying at By the Way Hostel (camping and huts also available). Contact Simon or Lorna Nicholson for details.
Tues 21 April to Thurs 7 May. Kalymnos, Greece
Kalymnos is one of the top sports climbing venues in the world. Club members are having a spring visit. Different members are out for varying times during these dates. If you are interested in joining this group, please ensure that you have someone who is happy to climb with you, by the very nature of the event you will need a climbing partner. Remember it is everybody’s holiday. For more details, please contact Pete Hammond and join the WhatsApp group.
May
Sat 16 – Sat 23 May. Glen Shiel, Scotland.
This is a fantastic area for hiking the Five Sisters, South Glenshiel Ridge, and many other amazing mountains. While the main accommodation is fully booked, there are still other accommodation options available nearby. I also know that campervans have been able to find places to park in the area. Contact Mary Reap for further information.
29 – 31 May. OMM Lite, Grassmere, Lake District. https://lakedistrictrunningfestival.com/omm-lite/
Gemma and Kial have completed this event in 2025 and said ‘it’s great fun’ – a 2 day orienteering ‘race’ on footpaths (no open fell on the lite). You can either run it or walk it and there’s different distances/ timings to choose from. You can do it solo or be in a team of 2. It’s part of the Lake District Running festival so there’s camping, food tent, stalls and talks on the evening (and even hot showers!) plus a hot meal at the end of the event.
We thought it would be great to open it to Castle members who fancy a go at testing their navigation skills. Please contact Gemma Scougal for more information.June
26th – 28th June. Langdales, Lake District. Camping/Campervan and Pod options available.
National Trust. Great Langdale Campsite has great walking from the site along with possibilities for climbing.

17th – 19th July Ogwen Valley, North Wales. Camping.
This is an ideal location for walking, with Tryfan, The Glyder’s and the Carneddau on the doorstep. These mountains also contain many opportunities for climbing and scrambling. Please contact Alison Lindley for details.August

Sat 5 – Sat 19 Sept. Dolomites, Italy.
Castle Club members are having a multi activity holiday in the Dolomites. This is a great location for Climbing, Via Ferrata, Walking and Cycling. We will be staying at Camping Rocchetta. This has multiple options for camping, hard standing for van’s and rooms with beds, so hopefully be suitable for most people’s preferences.
