My original notice gave the date of this walk as 23rd April when it should have been 23rd May.
The original message on the message board has now been corrected to 23rd May-hope this didn’t cause any confusion.
MikeOctober 22, 2023 at 8:33 pm in reply to: Saturday 28th October-South Head & Dragons Back Walk #21364mike doyleParticipantReminder for the South Head & Dragons Back walk next Saturday 28th October.
Meet at the road side parking below Upper Booth -G.R.108847-at 0830.The early start due to the popularity of the parking area.See my previous notice on the web site for full details (& alternative parking).
12.5 miles combining Kinder Low End,Mount Famine & South Head.Reasonably energetic with great views.
Forecast reasonable at present.
Car sharing advised .Let me know if you are coming and if you would like a lift (I can take 3).
Mike Doylemike doyleParticipantNo problem Paul I will collect Charles & bring him to the clubroom .I assume 6.45pm would be O.K.
Mike Dmike doyleParticipantSorry I forgot to give the start time for this walk which is at 10.30 am
Let me know if you are coming
Mike Dmike doyleParticipantAs mentioned before, we have 17 places booked at the hut.
At the moment 7 members have confirmed they will be attending,so we need several more to avoid a significant loss to the club.
As mentioned before, the hut is very comfortable and is situated in a quieter part of Snowdonia than the busier areas with access straight from the hut to Snowdon and the little visited Nantley Ridge. The Moel Hebog to Moel Lefyn ridge is also nearby and Mynyd Mawr. The more traditional areas are also accessable of course.
So do come !There is likely to be a communal curry and there is a decent pub nearby-so in addition to the days on the hill convivial “apres climbing” is assured.
If you would like to attend please let me know and pay a deposit of £10 into the club’s a/c (sort code 09-01-56. A/c33659703) using refernce” Rhyd Ddu.”
Mike Dmike doyleParticipantAs mentioned in my notice, the start point for the walk is large lay-bye on the right of the B5055 from Bakewell to Moneyash at G.R.183670.
If anyone is unsure of its location-follow the B5055 up its long climb out of Bakewell. When the road finally levels out you pass a sign for Green Cowden Farm on the right, followed by a sign for Bolehill Farm ,also on the right, and after that the the turn off to the right for Sheldon,Flash & and Chelmorton.Shortly after this turn of, as you come out of a large bend, you will see the lay-bye on rough ground on the right hand side.
Hope to see you there.
