A party of seven left Eyam under grey skies and which promised rain. Our ascent took us past the Youth Hostel and up to Ladywash Mine where the last of the previous night’s snowfall was melting rapidly. Over Sir William Hill and a pleasant descent brought us to the obligatory coffee stop at Stoke Ford. Although muddy in places the path to Abney was good. Past Cockey Farm a five-star bench was found for lunch which was enjoyed in glorious sunshine, before the descent into Bretton Clough and the climb up to Nether Bretton.
From here we followed the track onto Sir William Hill, and with the wind at our backs but with the sun shining we re-traced our steps to our starting point.
    7 miles.
    Sean.
