19 members met at our house in Bradwell in fine, sunny
weather. A stepped path dropped us to the village. A walk
up Edge Lane was followed by a rising bridleway across Bradwell
Edge to Rebellion Knoll. A delightful walk along the ridge
to Robin Hood’s Cross was accompanied by great views in both
directions. We soon came to Brough Lane; a litle way along
the lane were the seats where we had our picnic. Then a
bracing stroll across Abney Moor to Abney Grange was
followed by a down and up to the small reservoir and a lane
down past Great Hucklow School. The last leg of the walk was
past Quarters Farm to Hazlebadge, a wander up Green Dale,
and finally along Top Hole Road to the house. 6 miles and
1100 ft of ascent. We all enjoyed cakes, biscuits etc. washed
down with copious tea – a celebration of the 13th
anniversary of the CMC Thursday Walks.
