A day without rain! 10 of us made it to Harborough Rocks. A cool dry day, warming up when the sun came out and cooling down when the wind got up.
Plenty of routes and boulder problems done. It did seem like we were in the middle of a war zone with two different clay pigeon shoots and the factory making a lot of noise. We all survived. Role on summer! David

Hi there! Confirmation of details for the River Wye walk. We plan to walk downstream from Topley Pike to Rowsley. Approx 17 miles.
Meet at 9am in lay by off A6 just south of Topley Pike quarry. NGR is SK 113 725. Coming from Bakewell direction the lay by is on the right just beyond the A5270 junction. If you go down the hill you have missed it!
There is a Transpeak bus at 0816 from Rowsley to the start. We aim to park in the car park on the south side of the A6 at NGR SK 258 659 and catch the bus.
Hopefully, we will have vehicles at either end to offer a ferry service where necessary.
Please confirm if you are coming – I have a list of those who have expressed an interest. Car sharing will be useful where possible – for example someone could pick up Lynda in Ashford.

Meet report – a very wet start to the walk but undismayed we viewed the impressive remaining tower of Beauchief Abbey before moving on to Beauchief Hall and its herd of Fallow deer. The bluebells were excellent in the ancient woodland of Lady Spring Wood which was more than could be said for Moor View. Walking through Greenhill Park, we were beside the stream that marks the boundary between Sheffield and Derbyshire. It reminded us that our whole walk would have been in Derbyshire prior to the 1934 boundary changes. Lunch, and an end to the rain, was in Chantryland Meadow, Graves Park. The whole meadow was full of cowslips in this peaceful corner. Traversing Graves Park and crossing rhe A61 we finished the walk through Chancet Wood and Parkbank Wood, returning to the Abbey. The drifts of bluebells with the bright green beech leaves above them were particularly entrancing in Parkbank Wood. The walk finished with tea and a great variety of cakes.

Hope that you can make it on Thursday. Tea and cakes at our house afterwards. Please bring cake!
The bluebells were looking spectacular this morning.
The coffee stop will hopefully offer extensive views over the moors, while the planned lunch break over looks a meadow full of cowslips.

If the weather is as poor as predicted, I suggest Awesome Walls instead. Post a WhatsApp message if you are going and what time. I have a tendinitis injury and will not be there. David

The weather gods looked kindly on us, so that 14 of us had a great walk of twelve a a half miles from Hathersage. The aim of the walk was to visit six of the seven halls reputable built by Robert Eyre for his sons in the sixteenth century. Local knowledge saved the walk leader from going too far astray. The weather improved over the day and we experienced a great sunset from Moorseats Hall. Thanks to all those who came. David
