Our 15 strong party had barely got into its stride when a brightly clad figure wearing large sunglasses stepped into its path. After a few moments hesitation it was identified as non other than the legendary DD! For those not familiar with his past antics he assured me that the second volume of his autobiography will be out in time for Christmas.
The 16 strong party eventually continued through the byways of Castleton and disappeared into the shady depths of Cave Dale. A brief pause was made to admire the retrospective view of Peveril Castle glowing in the autumn sunshine and soon after a pleasant spot was found for coffee. Thereafter we continued in glorious sunshine via lanes and field paths in the lee of Slitherstone Hill to arrive at our lunch stop at Windy Knoll where shelter was found from the increasingly cooling breeze. The whole party continued over Mam Tor to descend via Hollins Cross to Castleton.
Many thanks to all who turned out on this chilly but gloriously sunny day.
