A select group of 5 set out from the Peak Village Shopping outlet .The earlier drizzle had by then stopped and patches of blue sky were in evidence.
After the climb out of Rowsley we stopped for a tea break looking over Carlton Plantation and the distant hills. We then descended to Carlton Plantation, briefly stopping to don waterproofs for what turned out to be a passing shower. Then, passing through New Piece Wood, we continued to Edensor guided by the church spire.Continuing through Chatsworth Park we passed the weir and enjoyed lunch on the picnic tables by the Old Mill.
The route then led us to Beeley from where we took the field path past Fold Farm where we were greeted by some friendly lambs in the adjacent field who clearly thought we were bringing them food.Leaving the lambs we were welcomed by a carpet of blue bells on the wooded banks of Smeltingmill Brook.
All that remained was the riverside path back to the Peak Village Shopping Center with, by now,a hot sun.
A pleasant spring day with lambs, swallows and blue bells-plus,of course, the excellent company of those who came.
    Mike
