8 of us started on a simply glorious winter day with blue skies, snow & all round views.
An early challenge was the icy bank leading up from the car parking area.Over this we were soon on our way and enjoying a coffee/photo stop on Bamford Edge looking down on Ladybower reservoir.Pushing on we traversed the the whole edge at the end of which Marian bade us farewell and set off to return to her car.
The remaining 7 descended to Bamford and enjoyed lunch by the edge of the weir at Bamford Mill before pressing onwards and upwards towards Win Hill.Originally I had planned to avoid yet another ascent by traversing below it-but in the conditions I soon decided that missing the summit was not an option! So we tackled it with a reverse ascent from the far (western) end .Stopping on the top just long enough to savour the all round views we completed the traverse of the ridge before descending to the north down steep snow to the edge of the forest.Avoiding Parkin Clough we took the more gentle but circuitous descent down iced steps through the pines to reach the Ladybower dam wall .
Another route change meant we took the path beyong the Ladybower hotel to the Cutthroat bridge rather than retracing our steps over Bamford Moor.
All in all a memorable winter day in the Dark Peak.
    Mike
