Apologies to anyone who went to Wimberry yesterday. Geoff and I, arriving 1/2 hour late after a diversion and consequent traffic jam in Sheffield, and having checked the Dovestones reservoir car park for ‘Castle’ cars and any climbers on Wimberry, decided to go to the alternative venue of the south facing Rob’s Rocks, with many easier grade climbs to choose from [11 climbs at severe or less] and also bathed in warm sunshine. We had the place to ourselves, apart from butterflies and ladybirds [and planes overhead on their flight path to Manchester airport]. After an enjoyable day completing 7 climbs, the ever enthusiastic Geoff suggested making a ‘right full mountain day’ of it by scrambling up Wilderness Gulley East – across the valley form Rob’s Rocks, 150 metre grade 2 gulley [?? number 6 in Tom Corker’s book] minimal water in it but very green. A short walk from its top allowed an inspection of the almost empty Chew reservoir at the valley head, and then, as the sun was setting, an easy walk down the metalled track, collecting our hidden heavy climbing gear on the way, to the car park before a drive in the dark back to Sheffield via Glossop and Snake Pass. A great day out at a delightful and friendly crag with easy yet interesting climbs on unpolished rock. Where were you all?
    Vanda Boyd
