14 members set off from Ashford in glorious sunshine which continued all day. On the route through Shacklow wood and Deepdale were swathes of wild garlic, bluebells and wood anemones. We had lunch at Magpie mine after admiring the violas which grow in clumps around there. Skirting Sheldon village we dropped back to Ashford. It was then we realised that we were a member short! Apparently overcome by hordes of golden dandelions they had stopped to photograph them and lost sight of the group. We later heard that they had forged a new path through Arrock plantation. Thankfully we were reunited at the bridge.
The leader apologises profusely for her dereliction of duty in failing to keep adequate control of the group!
The walk concluded with a tea party for Charles who had celebrated his 89th birthday and we were joined by another 4 members.
Thank you to everyone who came for contributing to a very memorable day.
