An amazing 21 people turned up for the first walk of the year, probably because it was a late start and nice and easy. We walked up from the dam, short and sharp to the top, and the wind was strong enough to stop the usual standing on top of the trig point, although David sat on it. The snow had melted very rapidly, and although the forecast was for rain, we all stayed pretty dry, and once down the ridge a bit and then into the forest by Hope Cross (guide post) we were out of the gales. Far reaching views over Kinder, the Hope Valley, Derwent were enjoyed.
Paul handed out some mini christmas cakes which kept Cookie going…
We ended up in the Yorkshire Bridge Pub and met Charles there and felt it was a very pleasant way to start the New Year. A happy New Year to you all. Linda
