8 members started out from Peak Forest with another member joining us on the 3rd stile. The initial walk is uphill through fields of sheep and teenage lambs. Eildon hill was on our left and all around are remains of the mining industry. Where our path crossed several others at the top of the hill one member peeled off leaving the rest of us to descend past Oxlow House and across 2 roads to make our way, steadily, up Rushup Edge. After lunch overlooking Edale valley we were diverted by an Ethel!
(Ethels are 95 Peak District hills over 400 meters above sea level. Apparently named after Ethel Haythornthwaite who formed the Peak District and South Yorkshire branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England in 1924. No, I didn’t know that either!)
After Rushup Edge the walk continued along the Pennine Bridleway to Perry Foot and back to the cars.
The weather was cloudy, but a nice cool temperature for walking. Many thanks for your company.
    Lynda
